Agriculture plays a huge role to us and people all over the world. Most people think that farmers just drive around tractors and raise animals, but it's alot different than that. They work very hard to insure that people everywhere around the country get the food they need to live. As i talked about in the introductory post I have been working on a farm since I was a little boy so I have the utmost respect for farmers around the world.
Being born and raised on a farm has really helped me develop a love for homemade/homegrown foods. Almost everything we eat at my house is either out of the garden or an animal from the field. Many people ask me how I can eat something that has been in my field for the past year. But I do not know how to answer this question, i'm just simply used to it. There are alot of things that can fall into the country style cooking I enjoy so much. Things like beef liver and onions, pot roast with mixed veggies, ham steaks with mashed potatoes, or even beef tongue all makes my mouth water with hunger.
Raising your own food can be wrong in some people's minds but it's a great way to save money and I believe it tastes better than grocery meat. I have developed this taste for fresh, home raised meat for about 18 years now and I dont believe that will change. One of the main reasons I like it is that we know our meat is fresh. At the grocery, you never know how long that meat has been there. You always see food and meat recalls on the news, raising our own meat gives us that extra insurance that our meat is clean and fresh.
