There is often a very wide array of thoughts that go through our minds when food is brought up. It could be a sudden thought of a smoked pork chop, a crisp salad, a crunchy apple, or even just a granola bar. I was raised on a small animal farm in a very rural part of springfield. With that said, I have been subject to trying many new tastes and elegant recipes. My mother believes that if it's not homemade, it shouldn't be eaten. I am a huge fan of country style cooking and fresh meat. My belief is that I've developed an intense love for meat because of all my time raising animals.
I have been raised and working on a farm since I was little. Therefore, I have gotten used to seeing that big playful steer in the field to seeing him getting loaded into the freezer. Many people say it is wrong to raise your own meat but it's simply how we live. Being in the barn is how I relax and get away from school and football's stress. Maybe that's why I like meat so much because I see it when i'm relaxing out in the barn.I have shown and sold swine and beef cattle at the clark county fair for many years now. Being in the FFA really tought me about how much animals can do for us and how many recipes can be used with them. This life has really influenced my choices on food and how its cooked.
Above I mentioned my food of choice was country style cooking. Enon is the name of a small village right near my house. We have a restraunt in Enon called "The Carriage Inn" that has some of the best homemade recipes around. They vary from a perfectly toasted reuben on rye to the farmers omellete in the mornings. Not to mention that the prices will make you quite happy as well. My favorite restraunt would probably be "Colliers" located behind theSpringfield mall. The liver and onions they have is to die for. Perfectly carmalized onions with well done liver and french fries really hits the spot. It has become a family tradition to try to make it there for dinner on Sundays.
Food can be your best friend, as it is mine. It can do great things to your body but it can also do great damage if not watched. There are so many different tastes and flavors out in the world right now. So many that one man in a lifetime couldn't taste every one in the world. My preferences for tastes and flavors have been built up since I was a kid and i'm sure is the case for alot of others.
